First step you should always do is to check that your Google Business Profile (former Google My Business) is tweaked.
Find a keyword you want to rank for on the search engines (Example: Cleaning Services)
Find 40-50 locations within a 4-5 mile radius around you. The locations should have a higher population than 1000 people. (Example: Say you're running a cleaning service in Chelsea, London, you might want to go for Kensington, Fulham and Lambeth as well.)
For each location you have you want to create a "landing page" for your desired keyword. (Example: "Cleaning Services in Kensington", "Cleaning Services in Fulham", "Cleaning Services in Lambeth", etc...)
Repeat for each desired keyword (Example: Domestic Cleaning, Commercial Cleaning etc...)
You'll end up with 150-300 new pages. Make sure you index your new pages on Google Search Console.
Using this method, you will increase the likelihood of people in those locations finding you on the search engines, when searching for your keywords (both with and without "near me" after)
